decoction of yohimbe primarily to enhance mental powers and to increase their sexual appetite. (A decoction is a strong tea of a powder, seeds, roots, rhizomes or bark brought to a boil and simmered for 15 minutes.) The bark can be smoked, rubbed on the body, ingested or sniffed for its effect on sexual interest and performance.
YOHIMBE IN ACTION
...produces a tingling sensation in the genitals, a warm pleasurable shiver through the back area during the sex act, brings blood into the pelvic region and stimulates spinal nerves and the parasympathetic nervous system resulting in profound emotional feelings, a moderately effective weight loss agent due to its raising body temperature or thermogenic action, a local anesthetic slightly inferior to cocaine, slows the flow of urine, stimulates lactation in nursing mothers, lowers high blood pressure, is good for low blood pressure, and is a anti-diuretic. Yohimbe dilates the blood vessels of the skin, mucous membranes and genitals, brings blood closer to the surface of the sex organs and also routes blood to the pelvis which results in hyperemia (blood engorgement) or erection of the penis. If the blood pressure is low, fatigue may produce temporary impotence instead of vigorous sex performance and therefore could nullify the reason for taking yohimbe.
